Today is what i call my comeback home anniversay
..On this day october 2015, I flew 18hours with my then 11months old daughter back to Nigeria after being away for 17months.
i remember how excited i was,i couldnt wait for my people to see my daughter who they havent seen since i gave birth to her.
i called my sister, told her my estimated time of arrival so she could wait for us at the airport..we flew 3hrs from seokerno hatta international airport jarkata Indonesia to Thailand when we stopover in thailand,I was able to charge my phones(they made provision for that at the airport)i took pictures, called my husband and sister to tell them how far we had gone,i even uploaded some pictures on social media coz they had free auto WiFi connection in both airports
From Thailand we flew 8hours to Egypt, normally they were supposed to transport us to our next terminal but they didnt so we walked,I and my daughter that just started walking a couple of weeks back,in fact I carried her together with my back pack oo(if you have seen my daughters old pictures you would see how big she was,so you know how hard it was for me)
After the long routine checkin,we then flew from Egypt to murtala Mohammed international airport Lagos.Immediately we landed, walked into the lounge everywhere was kinda dark.
i want to believe they had light but maybe their AC was bad.
people were sweating even oyibo people, the queue was so long and they had only 3 sluggish immigration workers with there angry faces!(I had my highest stress level on that day sha)
When i left in 2014,i didnt stress so much maybe because i wasnt with a toddler and i travelled with my husband
Finally it got to my turn after ages, I gave the lady our passports, mine and my daughter’s.
she looked at them and then looked at us(jamb question come start)
Immigration officer: you born her abroad?
Me: yes ma
Immigration officer: chai,e cost to born baby abroad abi?
ME: yes ma
she stamp me in and said oyibo baby welcome home.
Got to where i would claim our luggage, the guy i meet there demanded for #5000 to help me carry my luggage outside..when i told him i dont have naira on me,he said no wahala i should give him dollars now…lol
We then agreed on #2000,which i would get from my sister who was already waiting for us outside.
Got outside there i saw my sister running towards us(she was super excited to see her niece for the first time)
it was a very stressful journey but then NO PLACE LIKE HOME.
Guess thats why they say HOME SWEET HOME
Do i miss indonesia? YES
what do i miss most? Asian food,my friends, beautiful environment and weather
